The Louis Schuler Fund annually awards scholarships to those working toward becoming engineers, masters of various trades, and technicians. Candidates do not necessarily have to be from Göppingen or Schuler employees. After submission of a written application, which is evaluated by the board and the advisory committee of the Louis Schuler Fund, candidates are invited for personal introductory conversation. The criteria used to make a decision about a possible award include the financial situation of the candidates, achievements, social responsibility, and willingness to make a commitment.Anyone receiving a monthly grant has to submit grades once a year to the Louis Schuler Fund. In addition, there are regular meetings between those responsible for the Fund and the grant recipients. At these meetings the recipients present papers and provide information about the current status of their education/training. Any who aren’t already familiar the Schuler plant in Göppingen are given the opportunity to participate in a plant tour.
