Impact extrusion presses
Description
Impact extrusion presses are ideally suited for the manufacture of cans, tubes, and a series of similar formed industrial parts. Starting material is a slug several millimeters thick. During this process the material flows by backward extrusion between the die and punch. From this process thin-walled aluminum cylinders are produced.
Another processing variant is combined with the forward and backward extrusion for parts used primarily as components for the automobile and electronics sectors, such as, fuel filters. Over the years, Schuler has sold more than 600 of such impact extrusion presses and is considered the world leader in this market segment. During the past fiscal year Schuler has developed and introduced a new generation of impact extrusion presses. The new XS series is offered in capacities between 165 to1,320 US Tons (1,500 to12,000 kN) and are noted for low-impact forming due to a modified knuckle drive.
Advantages
- Modified knuckle-joint drive permits a constant speed during forming
- Possible part spectrum: part lengths up to 465 mm and a max. diameter of 150 mm
- Play-free slide guiding
- Indexing plate for reliable workpiece handling
- Simple set-up and operation
