Orbital Forming Presses

Description

Orbital forming presses from Schuler are available in capacities of 4,000, 6,300 and 10,000 kN.  These presses permit the manufacture of rotationally symmetrically parts using a significantly lower forming force than required in conventional extrusion processes. The reason is the slightly angled rotation of the upper tool and the resulting smaller contact surfaces for the transmission of the forming force.
The simultaneous vertical motion of the lower tool permits a greater degree of deformation.  The ability to manufacture complex contours with a high degree of dimensional accuracy and excellent surface quality make this method very interesting for suppliers to the automobile industry and many other manufacturing sectors.  Typical parts include various types of bevel gears as well as rack and pinion gearing for steering applications.

Your advantages

  • Selectable motion operating modes include circular, straight and multiple disk for all press capacity levels
  • Capability to integrate auxiliary axes for forming and counterholder pressures up to 30% of the nominal press forces
  • Dynamic adjustment of the angle of the forming tool during processing permits a greater range of freedom in part design and dimensioning
  • Direction of rotation of the upper tool is freely selectable
