Proven in real-life conditions
Description
Schuler delivered six fully automated hot forming lines for the manufacture of safety-relevant components to a German automaker. After heating in a continuous roller furnace the components are formed in 800-metric-ton hydraulic presses. Hardening of the components takes place by controlled cooling in a water-cooled die. During the cooling perios the press remains closed at bottom dead center (BDC) at a preselected force to produces a good material contact and to keep the cooling time as short as possible. The transport of the hot components is performed by robots with specialized tooling.
