Modernization of finger protection devices: Beutler Nova presents protection system to enhance die area safety
Many finger protection devices for presses still originate from the 1960s. They no longer correspond to state-of-the-art technology and represent a high safety risk. The correct protection of press die areas is a current topic for Beutler Nova, a subsidiary of the Schuler Group. The company has developed a protection system which can be retrofitted to presses and which protects the die area according to currently valid standards.
Beutler Nova offers a replacement solution for existing finger protection devices on presses with rolling key clutches. Safety is enhanced in particular by the following features:
Press stroke triggered when protection device closed and secured
- Control of engagement cylinder via dual-channel press safety valve
- Opening of safety device only when slide is at a standstill at top dead center
- Clear and ergonomically correct array of operating elements on the press
- New control system with “mushroom” safety module
The response to Beutler Nova’s three-day “Finger Protection Drive” in late 2007 underlined how important the replacement of existing finger protection devices is for many companies.
